Acccomplishments 1998-1999
- The Council raised xxxx for the Civil Service Scholarship Fund by holding a spring raffle.
- The Council was represented in the ISU Homecoming parade.
- For a third year, the Council assisted the WJBC Brotherhood Tree in its efforts to collect Christmas gifts for distribution in McLean County. Xxxx gifts were donated.
- Approximately xxx children attended the childrens Christmas party on December xx.
- Xxxx people went on the Council sponsored shopping trip to xxxx on xxxxx.
- The Council awarded Foundation Scholarships to Tracey Sharp daughter of Jane Castellano (Biological Sciences) and Daniel Weakman son of Donald Weakman (Facilities Management) and two Civil Service Scholarships to Julie Thomas daughter of Joan Thomas (Milner Library) and J.D. Klaverweiden son of Jerry Klaverweiden (Financial Aid)
- The Civil Service Council was represented on the following University Committees: Foundation Board, The Presidents Select Committee on Shared Governance, Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony Planning Committee, Team Excellence Award Committee, Parking Committee, Presidents Search Committee, and Child Care Task Force.
- Council representatives attended an all day retreat sponsored by Northern Illinois for all civil service councils in the State of Illinois.
- The Council supported the letter writing campaign which helped repeal House Bill HB1058 which would have repealed tuition waivers for dependents.
- The Council supported the statewide campaign to pass Senate Bill 211 which reestablishes the retirement benefit choice for those employees who were not able to reach 20 years of employment.
